Making Dallas a No-Kill city is a big job and as a volunteer-based organization, we need a lot of great volunteers to do it. As a Content Writer, you'll support our Marketing team in the execution of communication and marketing strategies across all channels of communication.
Reports to: the Marketing Directors, Vice President - Administration and the Executive Director.
Works with: Correspondence with DPA marketing team, leadership team and supporters on a semi-regular basis.
Collaborating with leadership on ideas and topics for blog posts, newsletters, email marketing and social media posts
Writing content that is engaging for DPA followers and appealing to our audience
Developing stories, articles, and promotions for one channel (blog, print, or email for example) with ability to adapt across multiple channels
Proofreading content written by self and others for AP style and grammar best practices
Assisting with any other duties needed to help drive Dallas Pets Alive!’s mission and support our values
HS diploma/equivalent or higher degree of education
Experience in a paid position or highly responsible volunteer position managing marketing content/copywriting is preferred
Must be proficient with use of email and have regular phone access
Must be a creative thinker and approach the role strategically
Must be self-motivated, organized, and consistent with follow through
Ability to work effectively with a variety of management styles and personalities
Must have HS diploma or higher degree of education.
Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare
Dallas Pets Alive! Musts:
Excellent oral and written communication skills to maintain professional level correspondence at all times
A motivational, can-do attitude to represent Dallas Pets Alive! in a positive manner to our supporters and the general public
A problem-solving mindset to handle and diffuse challenging situations in a professional manner
A love for animals and dedication to the cause of animal welfare
Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week
