Attend one of our orientations to learn more about how you can become a:

Shelter Volunteers: Do you love petting a “good boy”? Would you like to help socialize and exercise dogs in our play yard and take them for a walk? Would you like to take photos of our adoptable pets? Giving the animals attention, exercise, and enrichment is key to an improved quality of life while they are in our care and we need volunteers to make that happen.

Change a life, become a Foster: DAS has the highest rate of animal intake in the state of Texas. We often experience overflowing shelter capacity. We need superhero fosters to provide a temporary home for a pet in need. If you’ve been thinking about bringing a new family member into your home we’d love to give you the tools on how to become a foster.

C.A.R.E Team: You can help pets stay in homes with the people they love by providing assistance and resources to our neighbors in under-served communities. Become a part of our C.A.R.E Team, where you will be paired with a field staff person walking door-to-door to make a difference for people and their pets.
