Disaster & Emergency Preparedness
Disaster Response Exercise, Family Reunification Center support
The City of Dallas, Dallas County, and several area hospitals are participating and collaborating in a four-day active shooter full-scale exercise. This is only an exercise. Your time and service will help these partners prepare and respond efficiently and effectively in the event of a disaster. Sign up and learn more about disaster preparedness in Dallas and how agencies and hospitals support our community in times of great need.
In the event of a disaster, families may be separated and need a safe place to reunite and receive any necessary services. Hospitals have developed a Family Reunification Center for loved ones and families to gather when victims are arriving to hospitals.
May 30, 7p.m. - 10p.m.
Hospitals will activate their Family Reunification Center (FRC) protocols to respond to the family members and victims arriving at their hospitals after the school shooting. This is only an exercise.
Location: 5 Dallas area hospitals
- Parkland (75 volunteers)
- Baylor Dallas (10 volunteers)
- Presbyterian (10 volunteers)
- Children’s (10 volunteers)
- Methodist Dallas (10 volunteers)
Volunteers will report to the hospital of their choice and participate in the exercise at the hospital site. The exercise will be testing the hospitals capabilities to stand up a Family Reunification Center (FRC), how well they can track “patients” from the exercise and test how well they are able to reunify families.
****Children may be part of this portion of the exercise, however any person under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian.****
