Internship with Transitional Housing Program

Fun opportunity to work with clients (and possibly children) who are transitioning from shelter. Ideally an intern or motivated volunteer 10-20 hours per week. Hours are flexible although Wednesday evening for life skill classes is most important.

Position:    Transitional Housing Intern (PTE: 10 - 20 hours/week)

Program:  VOCA Transitional Housing Initiative


Essential Functions:

  • Develop Move-in resource folders for newly approved clients. Make copies as necessary.

  • Facilitate and arrange life skills classes for the clients including topics, speakers, workshops, and activities on premise.

  • Provide support to other staff as needed.

  • Maintain proper documentation and record-keeping of all client, program, office, and grant-requested information.

  • Submit weekly and monthly reports in timely manner.

  • Maintain updated knowledge on all topics related to child abuse, family violence, human trafficking, immigration issues, and impact of trauma on children.

  • Assist with other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s) or their designee.


Qualifications:

  • Current student or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Experience and/or compassion in working with children and/or victims of family violence, human trafficking, trauma, and/or refugee and immigrant populations.

  • Effective communication with culturally diverse populations.

  • Strong time management skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organization, writing, and technology skills.
