Hi there! If you're serious about helping children or adults learn English, then fill out a volunteer application at and click on the "Volunteer" at the top right-hand corner. After you've filled out the application, come to the Dallas Public Library's volunteer orientation to get trained on working with people improve their English reading, speaking & writing skills! 

During the orientation, you can choose whether or not you'd like to work with children in our Family Learning Program or with adults in the English Language Learning classes. This is also a great opportunity to meet and mingle with other wonderful volunteers!

Deets about the volunteer opportunities are below:

English Language Learning Classes (for Adults!)

Our English Learning Classes are held during the weekdays and on Saturdays. We have several classes for beginners to advanced learners, Level 1 through Level 4. The courses are designed to have people engage in exercises to help improve their English speaking skills.

Family Learning Program (for Kids!)

The Family Learning classes are exclusively for the children of parents taking the English Learning classes! The Family Learning program is offered at 6 of our library locations and is held from 10am-12pm. The children in the classes range in age from 4-12 years old. The Family Learning volunteer will engage the children with fun activities.
