POSITIONS AVAILABLE: One

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:  To assist in leading Dallas Pets Alive (DPA) efforts on the administrative side of the organization which includes Technology, Marketing, and Volunteer Departments as well as our two preventative programs, PASS and TNR. The VPA will work hand in hand with the Executive Director to ensure each department is running effectively and efficiently.  

SALARY/PAYRATE:  Volunteer

TIME REQUIREMENT:  15-20 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be knowledgeable and support all administrative department efforts, ready to step in when the Director of each department is unavailable

  • Have a business-like approach to problem solving

  • Assist in organizational budgets and help teams stay on target

  • Evaluate and enforce up-to-date policies in handbook (safety, social media, etc.)

  • Provide unbiased perspective for conflict resolution, team procedures for all of DPA. Serve as a mediator between team members

  • Understand team workflows to bring more efficiency to the group, providing proactive solutions for teams

  • Ability to set clear boundaries and not get caught up in emotional details

  • Report weekly with ED on each area needs and activities

  • Other duties and tasks assigned by the ED

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:  Correspondence with leadership team on a consistent basis, as well as ongoing interaction with outside organizations and DPA volunteers.

CONTROLS OVER WORK: This position reports to the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must live in the Dallas-Ft.Worth metroplex.

  • Must have experience with strategic volunteer management

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and maintain professional level correspondence at all times.

  • Must be able to successfully collaborate with other team members with a variety of management styles and personalities.

  • Must display a positive attitude at all times and present DPA in a positive manner to the public.

  • Must possess excellent problem solving ability, and ability to manage people.

  • Must have a higher degree of education, preferably in Non-Profit Management.

  • Must love animals and be dedicated to the cause of animal welfare.
