The purpose of IMPACT is to eliminate and prevent alcohol and other drug use and abuse at Navarro College and the surrounding communities. The coalition is designed to inform the public through prevention initiatives by:
 

·       Increasing community awareness of the legal and health consequences of drug use and abuse;

·       Strengthening community collaboration and building the prevention infrastructure;

·       Enhancing community efforts to promote and deliver effective drug prevention education among multiple sectors of the community through coordination and collaboration;

·       Mobilizing Navarro College and surrounding communities to address negative social norms and create a positive change in regard to prevention initiatives;

·       Engaging key stakeholders at state and local levels to plan and implement successful prevention strategies that are sustainable over time; and

·       Improving the overall wellness of the community

 

You can support our coalition by: 

·       Attending monthly meetings                             

·       Providing space, services, or in-kind donations

·       Serving on a workgroup                         

·       Providing information on Navarro College

·       Recruiting or greeting new members              

·       Assisting with special events

·       Providing data for assessments                         

·     Displaying information on events

·       Sharing the mission with your peers 

·       Advocating for community change



Volunteer Opportunities:


Event planning and execution Volunteer: Work with coalition coordinator and other volunteers to conceive and implement new programming strategies, and maintain current strategies such as the IMPACT Game Day zero alcohol tailgating, Battle of 4/20 interactive event, and presentations on campus and in the community.


Data Collection/Input Volunteer: Outgoing individuals needed to engage students, faculty, and community members in surveys to collect data for our coalition. The coalition could greatly utilize volunteers comfortable with data input and keeping our online reporting database up to date.
