SEARCH AND RESCUE


Department:  Outreach Team


Reports to:  Volunteer Leaders- Stan Gilbert, Lois Saenz, David Coe


Purpose:  To meet with homeless individuals who may not be able to come to our facility or may never have heard of OurCalling.  


Time Frame:  4 hour time commitment (Every Saturday except the 3rd Saturday of the month from 8:45am-1:00pm)


Description:  Three Saturdays out of the month we go out into areas where we know our homeless friends are living on the fringes and try to reach out to them.  We bring resources, offer to pray for them, and invite them to come to OurCalling.  Volunteers are needed to attend orientation from 8:45am-9:00am at OurCalling,meet leaders and divide into teams, go under bridges, behind liquor stores, and in wooded areas to engage people in homeless camps, and bring resources and food items to people in camps and offer to pray for them. Volunteers must be ages 13 and older!


Qualifications:  Sign up in advance at ourcalling.org/volunteer


Supplies Required:  Provided by volunteer:  $5 supply fee, long pants, closed-toe shoes


Safety Considerations:   We require volunteers to stick together with the group and not go off by themselves.  


Restrictions:  Must be ages 12 and older
