More Details

At Literacy Achieves (founded as Vickery Meadow Learning Center) we teach over 1000 adult students English as a Second Language (ESL) every year. Our students come from over 40 countries and want to learn English to get a better job, become more involved with their children’s education, navigate health and community resources, and more.

During the school year (September-December and January-April) volunteers teach once a week for two hours in our morning, afternoon or evening programs.  Our spring semester runs January 22 - April 26, 2018.  Teacher orientations will be held December 14, January 4, and January 10.

We provide all the training/materials/curriculum and try to place two teachers in every classroom. We offer daytime classes at our three campuses in Dallas. We offer evening classes at our Vickery Meadow and West Dallas campuses. See our other listings for other campus locations.

If you can’t commit for the classroom, we also have volunteer positions for enrichment teachers, subs, tutors, office help, computer lab teachers and more.  Please visit our website at to get more information about what we do and check out our videos there!
