Thank you for your interest in VNA Meals on Wheels.  Our primary need is for volunteer meal delivery drivers.  We deliver approximately 4,900 hot lunches each weekday (Mondays through Fridays) to homebound seniors and disabled persons throughout Dallas and Rockwall Counties.  We do not deliver on evenings or weekends.  Volunteers go to their assigned meal distribution point (we have a total of 22) between 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. to pick up their client manifest/map and two regular sized Coleman coolers with the hot and cold foods.  A typical route serves about 10-15 clients and takes approximately 1.0 to 2.0 hours to deliver.  It’s the same route each time so you can get familiar with the driving directions and get to know the clients.  You could end up delivering anywhere from once a month to once a week, depending upon what we have available that matches your preferences for location and weekday.  We also have shorter-term opportunities for holidays, summers, and community service hours.

To get started we invite you to attend one of our volunteer training sessions.  At the end of the training session we look at available routes and you get to take your pick and leave with a sample
